Ministries – Devoted to the Columbus Avenue family |
|
Once a person becomes a child of God, they are part of the greatest family the world has ever known. We are privileged to be a part of the kingdom of God on earth. Together with the other members of the body of Christ, we are working to build up the body in love. (Ephesians 4:11-16) Ideally, every member of the body of Christ meeting in a particular location will have a meaningful contribution to the overall work of the church. We have a number of ministries that contribute to the growth of the members of the Columbus Avenue church family. One of the largest ministries is our Bible school program. Each week we have some 25 to 30 people involved in teaching Bible classes during our assemblies. Most of those teaching at any one time have someone they trade off with on a regular basis. Overall, our Bible school program utilizes the talents of nearly 60 of our members. Our visitation program encourages visiting those who are ill or hospitalized, those who are shut-in either at home or a care home, and those who have been absent from the church's Sunday morning worship that week. As a direct result of their work, the church is experiencing a greater sense of association. Those who could fall through the cracks are being uplifted. Our young people consist of two age-based groups. While having fun is a big part of these groups, they are not simply fun groups. Their activities are avenues through which young people can learn to be involved in serving others because of their faith in Jesus. As a growing body of believers, involvement in the work of the church is vital. Our elders and our deacons are continually involving members in various ministries through the Columbus Avenue church family. |
